In home decoration, wire selection is a crucial step. The quality of wires directly affects the safety of household electricity use, so many people are very concerned about the selection of wires. When choosing wires, we often encounter two types of wires: single stranded wires and multi stranded wires. Which one is better to choose for home decoration?
Difference in the definition of wires
BV line: commonly known as hard wire.
Mainly used for power supply, lighting, sockets, air conditioning, suitable for cables and wires used in power devices, daily appliances, instruments, and telecommunications equipment with AC voltage of 450/750V and below. Advantages: Long service life, due to the small ratio of outer circular area, it is not easy to oxidize, and the single core is not prone to local short circuits or damage. Resistant to short-circuit current impact.
BVR cable: commonly known as flexible cable.
Suitable for cables and wires used in power plants, daily electrical appliances, instruments, and telecommunications equipment with AC voltage of 450/750V and below, such as distribution boxes. Advantages: Due to its soft wire, it is commonly used in active and temporary electric field locations, making installation, dragging, and movement convenient.
Characteristics of BV and BVR lines during construction
1. Single stranded wire is not easily oxidized
Due to the thinness of each core in multi-core flexible cords, they are prone to oxidation after prolonged use. Single stranded wires, after long-term use, only the surface part will be oxidized, while the middle part will not be oxidized, making them more durable.
2. In terms of price: Single stock line prices are relatively cheap
Multi strand wire is composed of multiple thin copper wires, and during production and processing, the process is slightly more complex, so the cost will also be slightly higher; Compared to single stranded wires, the price is slightly cheaper. So only with reasonable matching can it be economically practical.
3. In terms of heat dissipation, multi strand wires have certain advantages in heat dissipation
Wires are mainly responsible for driving electrical equipment in the home, so performance should be considered when purchasing wires. From a technical perspective, multi strand wires are composed of multiple thin copper wires. Under the same cross-sectional area, multi-core flexible wires have higher load-bearing capacity and better heat dissipation ability than single core hard wires.
4. In home decoration, wires need to pass through conduit and conduit. Single stranded wires have a higher hardness than multi stranded wires and are composed of a solid annealed copper conductor, while double stranded wires are composed of multiple thin copper wires. The softness of multi strand thread is relatively high, making it easier to thread, while the hardness of single strand thread is relatively high, making it difficult to thread. So when wiring in narrow areas, multi strand wires are more suitable.
When choosing a single strand or multi strand line for home decoration, it is necessary to weigh the specific situation. If you value safety, durability, and affordability, you can choose a single stock line; If you need wires with higher flexibility and easier threading, you can choose multi strand wires. However, regardless of which type of wire is chosen, attention should be paid to the quality and usage standards of the wire to ensure the safety of household electricity.
